^What she said. Nationals in October in Denton TX. North Texas club usually hosts Conf, Weight Pull and Obedience. (They had to cancel their last obed trial due to lack of help, though.)

Mutts are not healthier. They have all the genetic problems of the component breeds.

IN THIS SEASON OF GIVING, PLEASE HELP EMILIO TORRES AND HIS DOG BRASSY!

Emilio Torres was charged in the city of Girard, Ohio for harboring a vicious pit bull. Emilio is a paraplegic who tattered mattress spring poked thru and pierced his hip causing a deep bed sore. Being paralized Emilio did not realize it. He is cared for by visiting nurses and goes to the hospital once a week for wound treatment. Ohio Medicaid furnished a mattress for the time that burn victims use. Then about June-July Emilio was seen with his dog Brassy out the front of his house. The neighbors and medical people marvel at Brassy. Brassy has never hurt anyone. City workers turned Emilio in. The city has an ordiance against owning a pit bull, they call it harboring. The city workers told Emilio they would drop the charges if he would give them the dog.

Brassy was nominated for the ACE AWARD given at Westminister, he won runner up and was awarded a certificate IN SERVICE OF MANDKIND. The winning dog alerted to seizures. Brassy opens medium heavy doors and pulls Emilio in his wheel chair. This certifys him to be a service dog. The US JUSTICE DEPARTMENT assures every American the right to a service dog. The Justice Department and some STATE ATTORNEY GENERALS have formed a task force to educate people a service dog is more than a German Sherpard with a blind man. Service dogs can be hearing alert, sense seizures , and even pull wheel chairs or carry items. Brassy received his award because he pulled Emilio on hardwood floor to a telephone when he fell out of his chair. Brassy is amazing. Emilio worked with Brassy to train commands especially ones to help him in his chair. Many good folk have helped Emilio with funds for legal help, funds to eventually buy a mattress when he comes off the special medical bed using now, one person bought a memory foam cushion for his wheel chair and subscriptions to dog magazines. He was first summoned to court on Oct.9 but the doctor said the only way he could appear in court was on a gourney because he could only sit for 15 minutes. He is now to appear Nov.26. I forgot to say 20 states have formed a task force co chaired by Justice Dept and State Attorney General. OHIO BELONGS TO THAT TASK FORCE.

ADOA has been asked if they can help with the many needs of Emilio and Brassy. About 800.00 has been raised so far. You can see he has many needs, so if you can help you can see it is a very worthy cause. This is a great human interest story. I had been using Canidae All Stages for about 7 months for my puppies Titus and Vito...I know that Canidae recently changed their forumula of the All Stages and I noticed that both of the boys had very soft stools and bad gas. So I decided to try the Canidae Grain Free, hoping that would help but then I saw some info on the internet about how all Canidae has changed formula and that's now manufactured by Diamond...so after reading about so many other dogs getting sick (some seriously - some mild, mine just had the above symptoms) on the new formula of All Stages, I was wondering if anyone had any thoughts on this Grain Free formula and on Canidae in general...problems? Is it still good food? They've only been on the Grain Free stuff for one day so it's too early to tell if it'll help but I can say that their stools have hardened up quite a bit...Thanks in advance!! Thought I'd post some new pics of Titus and Vito - haven't been on in forever! They boys are now about 8 1/2 months old and around 58lbs....big boys! About 2 months ago Titus did break his front right paw - he decided he could jump all the way down the stairs and he made it but landed badly and broke the 4 bones in his paw. He's totally recovered now and it's like it never happened. I think I was more upset than he was...at least I was crying more than him!

Manduh, he was actually really good. He tried his little "I'm a badass" act one time. Then he cooled off. He even got run up on twice by loose dogs, and he just sniffed noses. He was a very good boy.

Megan, yeah I know. But by the time we were done with the training and the walk, I was just ready to head home. I do like Riverside park a lot, though. Whenever possible, I try to talk Lonney into going.

just thought it may be fun for some to go watch if they are in Co or for others to actually go to like Manu. This is the weekend after the San Diego agil trial though. I am hopeing to take the entire week + off to make it to both. LOL...

Several of you have asked. Here is the info on TOPS 2009. Carlynn
For those of you who don't know, we have a definite time and place for TOPS 2009, so mark your calendars now.
We'll be at Greeley. CO (north of Denver) again, same weekend - but with some variations.The dates will be May 15 - 17 (Fri - Sun) for agility, obedience and rally. Earthdog will be the preceding Thursday, May 14.
We won't be in any of the same buildings as last year. We will (I think) be in the huge building to the left of the obedience building as you face the buildings from the green oval. Obedience and rally will, as always, be on mats inside. This year agility will also be on mats inside. The good news is that we have a service that will provide and set up and take down the agility equipment. The bad news is that we don't yet have the mats lined up for agility. And we will need to go pick up and load and unload the obedience mats, just as we did last year, but we won't also have to haul agility equipment.
More details as they arrive. See you soon.
